Committee on Hydrology

Starts: 01-01-2024
Ends: 01-15-2027
Location: Online Opportunity

Description:

The AMS Committee on Hydrology is excited to announce two openings for new members! The committee is a diverse and talented group of hydrological and hydrometeorological scientists spanning academia, government, and the private sector. In general, we expect members to attend monthly committee meetings (1 hour/month) and join at least one subcommittee (time commitment varies). Terms typically last three years for full members (2 years for student members), and can be renewed for a second term up to a maximum of six years. More information about the Committee and member duties can be found at this link: https://www.ametsoc.org/stac/index.cfm/committees/committee-on-hydrology/.

We welcome all applications, regardless of career stage, industry, background, etc. We especially encourage applicants who work in the private sector, social sciences, and/or who identify as mid- or senior-career. We are also excited to recruit a new student member to join the committee. To join us, please submit your CV and statement of interest by September 15th

Our work requires tremendous coordination, commitment, and collaboration between tens of thousands of people, all of whom are dedicated to success. AMS has created a structure of volunteer support for this coordination and collaboration that includes six commissions overseeing 140+ boards and committees.

The information provided in this application will be provided to the various commissioners as they begin making appointments for the committees and boards of their commission. Please note that most appointments are made in the fall for terms that begin in January, so you may not hear anything for some time after submitting this form. Also note that great effort is put into maintaining balance on committees and boards in terms of sector, discipline, etc., so you may not be used on a specific committee or board immediately.
