Ends: 01-15-2027
Location: Online Opportunity

Description:

The purpose of the Water Resources Committee is to promote growth in the economic base of the weather and climate community by closely interacting with the water resources community toward the mutual benefit of all parties. Our responsibilities are to promote growth in the economic base of the weather and climate community by closely interacting with the water resources community toward the mutual benefit of all parties. The water resources community includes but is not limited to public, private, and academic organizations involved in water resource management, storage, energy generation, purification, research, policy, and education.

We strive to bring together the weather, climate, and water resources communities to better understand their respective needs, discuss current and future technologies and trends, identify solutions and services, and explore business opportunities.

Activities: The Water Resources Committee develops and participates in the following activities:
(1) Provide venues for the weather, climate, and water resource communities to meet and discuss topics of mutual interest
(2) Identify opportunities for the weather, climate, and water resource communities to interact (e.g., weather, climate, and water resources industry conferences, workshops, and symposia)
(3) Facilitate dialogue between the climate and weather enterprise and the water resource community

Specifically, past activities have included writing essays and articles as a group, proposing updates to AMS statements, collaborating with the American Society of Civil Engineers on a variety of efforts, and convening sessions at the AMS and AGU Annual meetings.

The information provided in this application will be provided to the various commissioners as they begin making appointments for the committees and boards of their commission. Please note that most appointments are made in the fall for terms that begin in January, so you may not hear anything for some time after submitting this form. Also note that great effort is put into maintaining balance on committees and boards in terms of sector, discipline, etc., so you may not be used on a specific committee or board immediately.
