Board on Atmospheric Biogeosciences

Starts: 01-01-2024
Ends: 01-15-2027
Location: Online Opportunity

Description:

The board’s focus is on the interactions between the biosphere and atmosphere, specifically how living organisms impact and are impacted by atmospheric processes. Members of the Board advise the Society on matters pertaining to the Biogeosciences and facilitate discussions between members of the scientific community concerning interdisciplinary research and education regarding the interrelationships between biological and atmospheric processes. This is achieved by assisting, as needed, with development of position statements, organizing scientific meetings and symposia to foster research, and seeking nominations for the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Biometeorology. Our work requires tremendous coordination, commitment, and collaboration between tens of thousands of people, all of whom are dedicated to success. AMS has created a structure of volunteer support for this coordination and collaboration that includes six commissions overseeing 140+ boards and committees.

The information provided in this application will be provided to the various commissioners as they begin making appointments for the committees and boards of their commission. Please note that most appointments are made in the fall for terms that begin in January, so you may not hear anything for some time after submitting this form. Also note that great effort is put into maintaining balance on committees and boards in terms of sector, discipline, etc., so you may not be used on a specific committee or board immediately.
